Doctor Who Turns 49
For a 1,200 year old Time Lord, the Doctor barely looks fifty. Well, maybe forty-nine. . . at least he will be this Friday. The program began on November 23, 1963 and was on the air until the Seventh Doctor and Ace walked off into the sunset in 1989.
There is sure to be fanfare as this birthday rolls around as it officially begins the 50th Anniversary celebration going into 2013. Today, I give recognition to William Hartnell since, without his time as the First Doctor, there would not have been ten more to come behind.

Hartnell’s most well known quote as The Doctor:
“One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all of your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.”
