Happy 81st Birthday Tom Baker

The world of Doctor Who forever changed on June 08, 1974 in the final moments of the sixth-and-final installment of ‘Planet of the Spiders‘. It was at this moment that Tom Baker first appeared (uncredited) as the Fourth incarnation of our favorite Time Lord.  Baker brought the role to even greater heights than his predecessors, Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, and William Hartnell. Now, as the oldest surviving Doctor, he celebrates his birthday. His 81st birthday!

Happy 81st Birthday Tom Baker

Tom Baker has, by far, become the ultimate Doctor for many fans. I know he is for me! This is especially true in the United States as his Fourth Doctor was the “first” Doctor many of us saw. He, along with the late Elisabeth Sladen, became one of the greatest Doctor/Companion pairings of all time. I’ve chosen to list some of Tom’s most memorable moments below. Enjoy! If I were to be able to say one thing to Mr. Baker, I would say this:

Thank you for your work in the 70s and 80s. Thank you for returning in 2013 to give fans that TOTAL “geek out” moment when – voice alone – brought tears of joy to the eyes of so very many. Now, I know you must be going. So, go…enjoy the day. You have a lot to do!
