Apple is in decline. Apple is no longer what it used to be. The iPhone no longer holds the prestige it once did. If that is true, why are we eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s release of iOS7? This is why…Twas the Night Before iOS7!
iOS: A Brief History
Originally named the iPhone OS, iOS accompanied the release of the first iPhone in 2007. The iPhone, in my opinion, dramatically changed the landscape of mobile devices providing an instantly popular interface. AT&T was, at first, the only provider to offer the iPhone resulting in customers leaving providers with greater coverage for AT&T. One might even assume it possible that, without the presence of the iPhone, there would be no Android OS as we know it today.
Apple introduced other devices such as the iPod Touch and the iPad and, in 2010, the operating system was rebranded iOS.
The iPhone User Interface (UI) has remained mostly unchanged; however, iOS7 will dramatically change the OS giving it a new look and feel. This update is as much as about cosmetics as it is about service and features.
This OS is a departure from the days of old and, for me, I couldn’t be happier. Yes, I love my iPhone and am a happy convert to the Cult of Mac. I can’t wait to see how the new look compares to the old.
According to Wikipedia.org:
iOS 7 is the seventh version of the iOS mobile operating system and is the successor to iOS 6. It was announced at the company’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10, 2013, and is scheduled for release on September 18, 2013. It includes a redesigned user interface and a number of improvements to the operating system’s functionality. The design of iOS 7’s new elements was led by Sir Jonathan “Jony” Ive, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Design.
New Features include:
Am I excited? Of course! I am also not ashamed to say that I’ve checked to see if it was available today – if it might be released early. This made me realize that I’m no better than a child anxiously awaiting Christmas morning. A child who sneaks out of bed at 1am to see if it might be possible to get a glimpse and make Christmas come just a bit early. But, alas, it is not to be. Waiting one more day is required. (Dang you, Apple Claus!)
Twas the Night Before iOS7
In the meantime, we – the Anxious of Apple Users – are left with this – a Night Before iOS7.
Twas the Night Before iOS7 and all through the land
All users waited patiently – Apple devices in hand.
Icons were redesigned by Jony Ive with care
knowing his new OS soon would be there.
Updates to your apps on iPhone, iPad and more
All coming from downloads from the App Store.
Delete what you don’t use – get rid of the crap
and get some rest – settle in for a nap.
Tomorrow sometime there will be online chatter
when we connect our devices and act like the Mad Hatter.
Away from Windows and Android alike
iOS7 should cause Apple’s stock to spike.
We speak not a word whether at home or at work
while filled with delight for our personality quirk.
Call us a geek, a techie or who knows
it matters not – I had fun writing this prose!
You will know it is downloaded and all is well
when countless blogger begin posting with their stories to tell.
I suspect you’ll hear opinions – be it a pro or a con
It matters not as it was all in good fun.
Now get your device and prepare to be nice…
“HAPPY iOS7 to you…and to you a goodnight.”
